Just days after my 2018 British Touring Car drive was announced, I found myself jumping aboard my MG6 GT for the very first time at the official BTCC Media Day at Donington Park.

The day started off with the usual photo shoots and interviews and was open to the media and fans, giving it the feel of a mini BTCC event in itself. It was a nice reminder of the huge buzz surrounding the championship and how passionate the fans are about the series!

All the teams and cars were unveiled one by one in the morning and we were really proud to show off our orange and blue liveries for 2018. They are definitely very striking and I can’t decide which side of the car I prefer.

Then it was on to the serious bit, the official pre-season test session. It was invaluable track time for us as my car hadn’t yet turned a wheel after going through a substantial winter overhaul. First we completed a shakedown, making sure all the systems ran correctly while I bedded my self into my new stead.

Before long we could make set up changes and really push the car. All in all it was a very successful first session with the car completing 43 laps without a problem. We laid down some reasonable lap times too, ending the day 11th overall.

Next up we headed straight to Brands Hatch for the second BTCC official test day where we finished off our preparations ahead of round 1. We encountered sunny dry conditions as well as monsoon rain, really putting our MG6 GT  to the test. With over 80 laps completed it was again another productive day.

With the buzz of the media day behind us and our short pre season testing schedule done, we are now ready for the 2018 season opener at Brands Hatch on the 7th/8th of April.
